ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A JOB? HERE ARE 5 WAYS TO STAY RESILIENT DURING A JOB HUNT.

We know that job hunting is not easy and it takes a lot of time and effort to get it. That’s why we decided to share with you these five ways to stay resilient during your job hunt and to grow from the experience. It might be a hard time for you right now, but it is also an opportunity for personal growth.

  1. Start a routine

Now that you have a lot of free time and you can drop your productivity, first decide what needs to be done daily or weekly and purchase a calendar if you need one. This will help you begin managing your time more wisely. A written, scheduled routine will be a lot easier to insert into the day-to-day or weekly things that need to be done. No matter what your tasks are, be sure to stick to your routine and remain optimistic about the future.

  1. Exercise and Rejuvenate.

The job hunt can be emotionally and mentally challenging. Do things that refill your tank – yoga, running, cooking anything you like. When you practice some exercises you keep your mind and body busy as possible, and your mental state will be quiet and concentrated. Moreover you will increase your resilience in this short term, and also build good habits that will carry you through future challenges and help you succeed. It will really help you counteract the negativity bias and increase your optimism.

  1. Be a friend of the internet.

The Internet will be your best friend in this adventure. Subscribe to Google alerts, tweet, comment on blogs, and find people in your new circle doing the things you want to do. Remember to volunteer your time and skills, make connections that will lead you to your next job.  .

Remember that there are plenty of ways to grow your skills and discover new talents, and pursue them aggressively.

  1. See old friends or meet new people

Finding a job can often feel very isolating, you might be embarrassed about not having a job and you can avoid social contact because your friends have gotten their dream job and you are alone in your hunt. We recommend you to have a coffee or a drink, Skype, or go for a walk with one of them, try to be honest with your situation, but be careful not to dominate the conversation with your frustrations about the job hunt. Your friends are the people that will help you get through in this particular rough patch, and you will see them through their own bad times. As well, try to meet new people; you never know who will have a great lead on a great job. This is a temporary experience that you can use to connect with other people, now and in the future.

  1. Control your thoughts.

Our mind does not often switch off (and, by the way, that is a good thing!) We think, and we think a lot, and such thing can be an obstacle to success, often when we are unemployed. You have to know that is something we do naturally, and you have to learn how to control your thoughts as opposed to your thoughts controlling you.  Train yourself to tune into your thoughts, and to go for accuracy and strategy—for example, “This is a tough situation, but I can stay focused, open, and hopeful.”
