Terrestrial Engineering Manager

One of our clients, a wholesale telecommunications company that provides reliable low latency services over fiber-optic submarine cable system serving the Americas, is currently looking for a Terrestrial Engineering Manager to be responsible for managing and planning, designing, and implementing Terrestrial networks. Designs and manages infrastructure for the support of application pieces such as layers 3 and 2 VPN’s, Traffic Engineering (TE) and Quality of Services in IP/MPLS based network

Qualifications / Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Telecommunication/Computer Science
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience within an Engineering Operation and maintenance DWDM, SDH and/or IP/MPLS network
  • 2 to 3 years in planning and optimization large networks (DWDM or IP/MPLS);
  • Bilingual, English and Spanish preferred; Portuguese a plus
  • Experience with Submarine Fiber Optic/ Telecommunications Industry
  • Project Management PMI Certification is a plus
  • Able to provide innovative solutions to problems and to communicate them
  • Able to work with closely with customers

Responsibilities

Tasks:

  • Management of Design, Project, Planning and Optimization of the IP Network (and related DWDM, SDH )
  • Management of Management Platforms (Flow based, SNMP based)
  • Management of SDN Technologies
  • Management of Power and Colocation Space Management
  • Technical forecast to build a Budget for Network based on Sales forecasting demands
  • Forecasting expansions of network components
  • Creating and keeping up to date technical documentation and diagrams for ISP network setup
  • Management of Troubleshooting ISP network related issues and deploying corrective measures
  • Deploy network control solutions
  • Planning hardware and software upgrades
  • Cooperates with vendor engineers in identifying and resolving complex hardware and software problems
  • Performing migrations of equipment and interfaces as needed
  • Designs and manages infrastructure for the support of applications pieces such as layers 3 and 2 VPNs, Traffic Engineering (TE) and Quality of Service in IP/MPLS based network
  • Design the transport networks (SDH, DWDM)
